A Polícia do Serviço da Irlanda do Norte (PSNI) pode ser multada em £750.000 por uma grande violação de dados no ano passado. Após a violação no verão passado, a PSNI confirmou que as informações estavam nas mãos de republicanos dissidentes, entre outros. O Gabinete do Comissário de Informação anunciou que a multa proposta poderia ser imposta à PSNI “por não proteger as informações pessoais de toda a sua equipe”. A PSNI afirmou que não pode arcar com uma multa desse valor. A violação ocorreu quando a polícia respondeu a um pedido de Liberdade de Informação (FOI) e as informações sobre os 9.483 funcionários policiais e civis da PSNI foram publicadas online.
